Tavi Gevinson may be only 15, but the Illinois blogger is already a big name in the fashion industry. After attending couture runway shows, collaborating on a fashion line for Target, and receiving a big shout out from Lady Gaga, Tavi now has her very own online fashion magazine, rookiemag.com
Launched today, Rookie is aimed at smart, teenage girls with an eye for fashion.
"I started thinking about the possibility of Rookie a year or so ago," Gevinson explains in the mag's editor's letter. "It seemed like a good venue for pure aesthetic enjoyment and smart, fun writing, As my freshman year of high school progressed, I found myself needing something that could be more than that."
With a team of 37 writers and editors with backgrounds ranging from editorships at Harper's Bazaar, British Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and the Los Angeles Times to writers for the television show Saturday Night Live and HBO, not to mention Tavi's cult following, Rookie has great promise.
The Telegraph's Melissa Whitworth describes Rookie as "a hybrid of The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Nowness, aimed at the discerning, ultra-hip tween crowd."
