Most people know actress Emma Watson for playing Hermione Granger in the phenomenally successful Harry Potter films. However, the young starlet refused to let the role define her. In a recent interview, Emma said she turned to fashion to express herself, a move that has served the actress well.
"Fashion gave me a chance to feel like I was something outside of Potter," Watson, 21, told the UK newspaper The Independent. "I'm a multi-dimensional person and that's the freedom of fashion; that you're able to reinvent yourself through how you dress and how you cut your hair or whatever."
Of course, Watson’s fashion choices haven’t always been well received. In 2009, the then 19-year-old actress wore a unique Rodarte dress that the press “destroyed” her over, and Emma also took some flack in 2010 for donning a Christopher Kane dress with embroidered flowers.
However, Watson got the last laugh. The actress appeared in a Burberry campaign in 2009 and is the current face of Lancome cosmetics. In 2011, British Elle named Watson a Style Icon. It seems Emma’s unique fashion sense has helped her move beyond Harry Potter films and into the fashion industry.
Watson’s recent film work includes the critically acclaimed My Week with Marilyn and the upcoming movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
